Christmas

Wednesday, 13 Dec 2023

Here we are at the end of the school year. It has happened so quickly and as the days tick by to Christmas things certainly will not slow down.

It is difficult for us to find time to stop at this time of year. Stopping is such a valuable tool for it allows us to give thanks for the blessings we have in our community in the Adelaide Hills.

As you gather together at Christmas − students, families, friends and staff − I pray that we all have time to pause and truly celebrate the feast of Christmas. As the Bible reminds us in Luke 2:14 – “Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favour rests.”

Christmas reminds us of God’s glory, seen in the act of the gift of a saviour born to us. The gift of Christ is a daily reminder to us all that God’s favour rests on us all. Whether we make Christmas this year with nothing in the tank and the best we can muster is a quiet meal with family or whether we have the energy to gift our children that amazing swing set that takes a team of adults a night and a few beverages to put together. Let us never forget that God’s free gift of his love and peace rests with us always. He provides for us always.

Among the many things we will be thankful for this Christmas, may we be thankful for God’s ongoing gift and provision.

May the Christmas season be a time of joy, rest and refreshment. May you celebrate the many blessings of this year and take the inspiration that comes from hope in Christ, into 2024 and beyond.

I thank all members of our community for another wonderful year at the College.

Blessings
